Obituary

Helen passed peacefully in her sleep on June 18, 2025, at 94 years old.

She was born in Baltimore, Maryland where her heart always remained. She was the youngest of 8 children, all predeceased her, and she had so much fun growing up on Curly Street.

Helen met Larry Shaw from Pejepscot, Maine, in 1950 while working as a cashier in Baltimore. They fell in love and married two months later.  Larry was in the Navy at the time (a Veteran of World War II and The Korean War) and stationed in California, so they moved to California where they had their first daughter, Susan.  They moved back Baltimore and had their 2nd daughter, Clarice.  Their next stop was Ohio where Lawrence Jr. "Skipper" was born, and Colorado was where they lived for the next 12 years and where Christopher was born.

Bedford, Mass was the next move due to Larry's job. They lived in a twenty-room house on Old Billerica Road, where Susan had her wedding to John Bouchard.

Helen had the travel bug; she and Larry purchased a camper van they could stay in and drove across the country to Alaska.  In addition, Helen and her son Skipper went on cruises to Jamaica, Bermuda, the Caribbean and often took trips to Quebec.

Helen worked at MacDonald's in Bedford for over ten years and was very proud that she became a shift manager.

After Larry passed, she moved to a condo in Chelmsford, MA where she made many good friends.  After Chelmsford, her next move was to the North Village Senior housing, where she was often the Bingo Champion.

In 2020, she moved to Hollis, NH to live with Clarice and her family.  She had the love & support of her grandsons, Ryan and Connor, who enjoyed spending time with her.  Every night we all watch Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, Helen's favorite shows. When Clarice's friends came to visit, it was a night of Rummy 500!  Helen loved to play cards and socialize.

Helen's family includes her daughter and son-in-law, Clarice and William Boyd and their sons, Ryan and Connor Boyd,  her daughter, the late Susan Bouchard, her husband John Bouchard and their sons, Andrew and Zachary Bouchard, her sons, Christopher Shaw and late Lawrence Shaw Jr. "Skipper".

Helen also has many loving relatives in Maryland. Her cousin Eleanor Richardson and her children, Linda Steward, Laura Wollenweber, Steven Richardson and their spouse and children. Her niece, Rosemary Andryzsak, daughter Christine Barker, husband Rick and son Drew.
