Obituary

Gregory B. Butler, 65, of Bedford and Chatham, died following a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family on November 15, 2018.

He was born in Brookline and was the son of the late Edward J. Butler and Ann (Quinn) Butler.

Known to many as "Hoot", he was raised in Dedham and was a graduate of Xaverian Brothers High School, Class of 1971

Greg received his Bachelor of Science in biology from St. Anslem College, his PhD in cell biology from University of Vermont and his JD from New England Law in Boston.

Greg worked for many different companies over the years, most recently, he worked at EMD Serono, as a patent counsel.

In his free time, he enjoyed boating and traveling. He also loved spending time in Chatham with his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Athena (Bakas) Butler, his five boys, Jason M. Robertson and his wife Elaine of Pembroke, Adam P. Robertson and his wife Kelly of Berkley, Michael G. Robertson of Abington, Edward J. Butler III, of Annapolis, MD, and Gregory B. Butler II of Waltham, his brother Richard Butler of Derry, NH, sister-in-law Deborah Butler of Norwood, nephew Robert Butler of Norwood and cherished grandchildren, Evan, Isabella, Alexandria, Athena, Demetra and Theodore.

His funeral will be held from the Bedford Funeral Home, 167 Great Rd., Bedford, on Tues., Nov. 20, at 8:00 AM, followed by a funeral Mass in St. Michael Church, 90 Concord Rd., Bedford, at 9:00 AM.

Visitation at the funeral home Mon., Nov. 19, from 4:00-8:00 PM.
