Obituary

Gloria Ann Longo (Ambrocey), 90, of Bedford, MA, died peacefully at her daughter's home in Brewster, MA on December 10, 2014. Gloria was born in Boston, MA, Sept. 13, 1924.

She grew up in Bedford and graduated from Lexington High School. After graduation, she worked at a bank where she met her husband of 32 years, Alfred (Al) Longo, who preceded her in passing.

Because Al was an airline pilot for Pan American, the family lived in several states throughout the U.S. as well as in Munich, Germany. Gloria loved to travel with her family in Europe and the Caribbean. Later in life she was very proud of her work as an executive secretary as well as attaining a certificate in Gerontology. She will be remembered for her devotion to family, unmatched friendliness to all people, and her unwavering optimism toward life.

Gloria was the quintessential Italian mother and hostess who enjoyed cooking up feasts for her family and all who visited. She enjoyed knitting, crafts, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a devoted member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Bedford. Gloria is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Silvio (Al) Poretta, of Cape Coral, FL, as well as her five children - Tina and her husband Raymond Glaser of Brewster, MA; Shoshana and her husband Gary Lichtenstein of Key West, FL.; Vincent and his wife Tracy Longo of Cohasset, MA; Frank and his wife Carrie Longo of Maynard, MA; and Anthony and his wife Natasha Longo of Arlington, MA. She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren - Cindy Ryan (deceased), Allison Wonderland, Jo del Amor, Amy Xidea, Marina and Christopher Longo, Frank Jr, Jamie, Alexander and Grace Longo, Julia and Elena Longo, and Ayden Arsenault; four great-grandchildren - Dylan Silvia, Luna del Amor, and Michael and Chase Xidea; and three nephews.

Services will be as follows: There will be a wake at Bedford Funeral Home, 167 Great Road in Bedford, on Friday, December 12th, with visitation hours from 4 - 7pm. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 90 Concord Road in Bedford, on Saturday, December 13th, at 9am.

There will be a private burial at Shawsheen Cemetery where she will be rejoined with her parents, Frank and Rose Ambrocey, and her husband, Al Longo.

In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made to The Bedford Council on Aging, 12 Mudge Way, Bedford, MA 01730 or to VNA Hospice of Cape Cod at http://www.vnacapecod.org
