George O. Southwick, of Boca Raton, Florida and formerly of Bedford, died July 5 2014.
Mr. Southwick was born June 21, 1928 in Lynn, MA to Owen and Alta (Twonbly) Southwick.
He received his bachelor degree from Dartmouth College in 1951 and later his masters at Boston University in 1960.
He served four years as a Staff Sargent in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in July 1955.
Mr. Southwick went on to teach for many years and retire from the Lexington Public School System. He held the position of President of the Massachusetts Teachers Association from 1976-1977. He was the recipient of the DeMolay Teacher of the Year in 1983 and University of Chicago Outstanding Teacher Award in 1985.
He was the loving husband of Nancy (Haley) Southwick and the late Barbara (Codwise) Southwick. The devoted father of Robert and his wife Angela, daughter Marcia and her husband Peter Bolduc. Brother of Phyllis Forsyth. Grandfather of Lacy and Jamie Markle, Michael and Christina Bolduc, Jeffrey and Justine Bolduc and Karlyn and Joseph Lazazzero. Great grandfather of Matthew, Joshua and Lucy Bolduc and Jack Lazazzero.
