George Scott Morris, age 68, passed away at Edith Nourse Veterans Hospital in Bedford, MA on October 31, 2017.

He was born March 27 ^th , 1949, at Mayo Memorial Hospital in Northfield, Vermont and was the son of the late George Reed Morris and Dorothy Mae (Blair) Morris

George enlisted in the United States Army in 1967, and served in Vietnam. After advanced Infantry Training at Fort Polk in Louisiana, he was assigned to the First Air Cavalry as an Infantryman Airmobile Division. He saw combat in the Khe Shan and the Ashau Valley, and he was involved in four combat campaigns. Wounded in February of 1969, he returned to Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C. for treatment.

He was recognized for his service in the Army's 7 ^th Cavalry Squadron and received a Bronze Star with a V for Valor and Purple Heart, The Air Medal the Combat Infantry Badge and the Army Commendation Medal. While assisting many of his comrades and helping get the men to safety, George was wounded in the right arm and head.

George was full of joy and seemed to befriend everyone he met with wonderful jokes and stories.

He is survived by his son, Robert Reed Morris and his wife Jacqui, two grandchildren, Bryce and Cailyn Morris all of Dover, PA, his sister, Barbara Morris Gonsalves, brother-in- law Frank Gonsalves and their children of Tewksbury, MA, his cousins in Vermont, "The Band of Brothers" of Building B and the hospital staff who cared for him.
