George L. Donovan, Jr., 92, a former longtime resident of Bedford, died on April 14, 2012, at Emerson Hospital, Concord, Mass.
Mr. Donovan was born in Boston on September 3, 1919, to the late George L. and Margaret (Curley) Donovan.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the Army from 1942 to 1946 and was a member of the 116th Signal Radio Intelligence Company which was involved in campaigns in Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe.
He was a graduate of Boston University School of Business.
He was Vice president of Marine Insurance at Fairfield & Ellis in Boston, Mass. before retiring.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Barbara M. Donovan, one daughter, Karen Logan & son-in-law, Kevin "Max" Logan of Nashua, NH, a sister-in-law, Constance (Donovan) Dodge and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Paul and Charles Donovan, and sisters, Alice Hosmer and Elizabeth Anderson.
His funeral Mass will held from the Bedford Funeral Home, 167 The Great Rd., Bedford, on Wed. at 8:00 A.M. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Michael Church, 90 Concord Rd., Bedford, at 9:00 A.M.
Interment will be in Shawsheen Cemetery in Bedford.
