George D. Comley, 96, of Wilton, NH and formerly of Westford and Lexington, died on December 14, 2021.
He was born in Arlington and was the son of the late George E. and Eva (Mclure) Comley.
George was raised in Lexington and was a member of the Lexington High School class of 1943.
Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army and served during World War II. While in the service, he traveled to Africa and India.
After serving honorably in the Army, he went on to attend Wentworth Institute of Technology and became an electrician. He worked throughout the Boston area for Norton Electric and was the lead electrician for the generator that powers the Boston hospitals in the Longwood area.
He married June (Layte) Comley in 1980
George was an active member in many organizations including, the Lions Club in Lexington, even receiving a reward for his long-time membership, the Scottish Rite, Shriners and member of the Masonic Lodge Simon W. Robinson located in Lexington, MA. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Lexington.
For a number of years, he had a home on Lake Sunapee and enjoyed spending winters in Florida and summers in Nova Scotia. He and June loved to travel in their motor home around the United States and Canada.
He was an avid gardener, a skill which he inherited from his father, and found solace working in his garden.
He is survived by his wife, June, his children and their spouses, Patricia Probst and her husband Barry of Brockton, Pamela Carroll and her husband Barry of Edgewater Florida and David Comley and his wife Lisa of Wilton, NH, his grandchildren, Philip, Timothy and David Montalto, Cean Comley, Cassandra Fulton and Katie Carroll and 10 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his brother Philip Comley and grandson James Carroll.
Visitation will be held at the Bedford Funeral Home, 167 Great Rd., Bedford, on Monday, December 27, from 4:00-7:00 PM, with a Masonic service beginning at 6:45 PM. Face masks are required.
Funeral services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, Processing Center, PO Box 863765, Orlando, FL 32886.
