Mr. Frank Robert "Uncle Bob" Sandblom of Milton, Massachusetts died peacefully on Sunday, April 15, 2018. He was 91 years old.

Bob was born on November 19, 1926 in Milton, Massachusetts to the late David E. and Ellen M. (Johnson) Sandblom and was brother to John D. Sandblom (deceased) of Bedford. He was raised in Milton and graduated from Milton High School in 1944. In November of that same year, upon his 18th birthday, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served honorably as a Seaman First Class aboard the USS Savanna, one of the Navy's light cruisers serving in the Atlantic theater of operation. After WWII, Bob left the Navy and enrolled at the Wentworth Institute of Technology where he received his Bachelor of Technology. Bob began working for the Frank H. Davis Papermill Machinery Company in Cambridge MA, where he enjoyed a long career as a pattern maker.

Bob was a lifelong bachelor who enjoyed the love and friendship of his extended family, including many cousins, nephews, and nieces. With his sincere kindness, generosity, and good humor, Bob made friends with whomever he met, and wherever he went. Bob was an avid outdoorsman, who at various times in his life enjoyed hunting and fishing. Upon retirement, Bob enjoyed traveling with friends, as well as woodworking. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Visitation will be held at the Bedford Funeral Home, 167 Great Rd, Bedford, on Saturday, April 21, from 10:00-11:00 AM. Interment to follow at Cambridge Cemetery, 76 Coolidge Ave, Cambridge. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Uncle Bob's life.
