Commander Frank P. Morrison (US Navy Ret.), age 95, of Bedford, a former resident of Connecticut and Sudbury, MA, died on March 25, 2014, at the Carleton-Willard Village in Bedford.

He was the beloved husband of the late Geraldine (Bassett) Morrison and father of the late Andrew L. Morrison.

He is survived by his daughter, Susan O'Hara and her husband Kevin of Boxford, his sister, Sally Morrison of Bedford, brother, Walter Morrison and his wife, Sarah of Truro and grandchildren, Aaron Weiner and his wife Jennifer Shrader of Tucson, AZ, Jacob Weiner and his wife Emily Harnish of Westfield, Amy O'Hara and her husband Isidro Borboa of North Andover and great grandchildren Luca and Olive.

Commander Morrison was born in Los Angeles, CA, on June 6, 1918. He earned his degree in mathematics from Yale University in 1940 and the following year enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served his country in the Navy for twenty years and was stationed in TX, FL, RI, VA and CA. He was an aviator in World War II in the Caribbean and South America. In 1947, he was the first pilot to fly into a hurricane in order to get "fixes" on its location and path. Unique to this mission was the use of radar as a tracking tool.

After retiring from the Navy in 1961, he began working as an engineer at Raytheon in Wayland. After his retirement, he remained active with Raytheon consulting on special projects.

He loved math, reading, sailing, auto repair, target shooting, flying and was a ham radio operator.

He will be buried at North Haven Cemetery in North Haven, CT, next to his wife.
