Francis J. O'Hara, (Frank) 83, of Bedford, died on November 25, 2013, suddenly after a vibrant life.

Mr. O' Hara, born in Cambridge, Mass. on April 9, 1930, was the son of the late Francis James and Melania (Ford) O'Hara.

He was raised in Belmont. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in physics from Boston College and completed his Master's degree in electrical engineering at Northeastern University.

Employed for 40 years as an electrical engineer at Raytheon, Mr. O'Hara was awarded the title of Consulting Engineer. He was also a recognized author and inventor in his field. After a brief retirement, he returned to engineering as a consultant.

Mr. O'Hara had lived in Bedford since 1965. He was a long time member of the Parish of St. Michael where he served as a lector and a Eucharistic minister. He was also a member of the choir.

He is survived by his wife, Emily (King) O'Hara, four daughters and their spouses, Emily O'Hara and Mark Gendreau of Andover, Grace and Carl Therriault of Haverhill, Louise and Andy Slate of Raleigh, NC and Alice and Keith Promisel of Templeton, three sisters, Margaret Delaney of Oakton, VA, Nancy Regan and husband, Frank of Wakefield and Pauline Harris of Reading, and six grandchildren, Daniel and Lillian Gendreau,, Audrey and Jeffrey Therriault, Andrea Slate and Elysa Promisel.

A funeral Mass will be held at the Parish of St. Michael, 90 Concord Rd., Bedford, at 9:00 A.M. on Monday, December 2. A procession will be held from the Bedford Funeral Home Monday, December 2 at 8:00 A.M. Visitation will be held at the Bedford Funeral Home on Sunday, December 1, from 1:00 to 5:00 P.M.
