Francis "Frank" A. Gicca, of Hudson, New Hampshire, formerly of Bedford, Massachusetts, Moultonborough, New Hampshire and Sanibel Island, Florida, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on October 10, 2025. He was 94 and had lived a very full life.

Frank was born in New York City in 1931 to the late Voltaire and Sofia (Rico) Gicca shortly after they immigrated to America from their former home in Argentina.

Due to his father's diplomatic career, he travelled and lived around the country.  His formative years were in Brooklyn and Queens, New York.  There he cultivated his love for pioneering clubs and graduated from William Cullen Bryant High School in Queens.

Frank then earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, NY.  He earned a master's degree in electrical engineering from Northeastern University, where he later achieved the status of overseer ETA Kappa and then overseer from Northeastern University in 1993.

While in Troy, Frank met the love of his life, Joan, on a blind date during his junior year of college. They were married in Troy, New York, in 1954 and following their honeymoon moved to Bedford, MA, where he started a career at Raytheon.  Frank and Joan's partnership spanned an extraordinary 71 years!

Frank was deeply involved in the Bedford government, advocating for the residents as Selectman from 1973-1985. He also remained Director and Finance Chairman of the Bedford Historical Society for the vast majority of his later years.

Frank's accomplishments are too numerous to list individually.  Among them: he received the Radio Rensselaer Award for the development of stereophonic broadcasting, first in the country, encoding the development for future FM radio stations.  After graduation, Frank began his career at Raytheon as Director of Data Systems. There he helped design rockets and missiles for government defense systems. Next Frank joined GTE Government Systems.  There he managed programs for military ground, air and distributed communication systems.  He finished his career at the company as its President.

Throughout Frank's career, he led many notable organizations and received recognition for his outstanding contributions to the field of electrical engineering and military communications development.  Frank was recognized within the "Leading Men in The United States" Biographical reference list in1965 for his outstanding achievements.

In 1994, Frank was awarded the USO/NE Civilian Patriot Award. Frank was the former President of NSIA (National Security Industrial Association) and AFCEA (Armed Forces Communications Electronics Association).

If this doesn't already sound like a very full life, when not working, traveling the world with his wife or coordinating family vacations, Frank spent time building 2 homes on Lake Winnipesaukee, Moultonborough, while seasonally spending time in season at the family's home away from home on Sanibel Island Florida.  In younger years, weekends were often spent snow skiing with his children on Cannon Mountain or boating and fishing the waterways of Lake Winnipesaukee.   His love of the arts should also be noted. Highlighting this was his deep bond with Boston Baroque as Director Emeritus. And lastly in his free time, Frank was a pilot, enjoying the freedom of looking at the world from a different vantage point, always moving forward.

Home and family were the highlights of his life. His great love for his wife, children, grand and great-grandchildren were evident in all decisions he made.  He was an intricate part of guiding and loving his 3 grandsons from birth to compassionate adults.  Even in his final days he continued to impart deep wisdom and guidance. His special delight was the birth of his name-sake great grandson, Alexander.  Despite the distance of miles, Frank remained closely connected to his family's roots in Argentina and felt a great bond and love for the close cousins and family.

He is survived by his wife Joan (Coomes) Gicca, his daughter, Linda Medeiros and her husband Carlos of Hudson, NH, his son, Greg Gicca and his partner Denise Lewis of Tarpon Springs, FL, his grandchildren, Scott Arthur Jr. and his wife Mariah, Joseph Arthur and Matthew Hotchkiss and his great grandchildren, Alexander Arthur, Isaiah and Ysabel, his godson Alex John Ivanov, his  cousins, Diderot Gicca Jr. and Francisco Gicca both of Florida and his cousins  Alejandro Carbone, Roxana Carbone, Dr. Gabriel Carbone and Lilliana Garciarena with their families in Argentina.

Visitation will be held at the Bedford Funeral Home, 167 The Great Rd., Bedford, on Wednesday, October 15, from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Michael Church, 90 Concord Rd., on Thursday, October 16, at 10am.

Interment will be in Shawsheen Cemetery, Bedford.
