Thomas, Edward C.P. (97) died at home with family on December 15th in Bedford, MA where he lived with his bride of 75 years, Marjorie P. Thomas (98). Born in Windsor, VT, he was raised there until he was 11, when his family moved to Cambridge, MA. He graduated from the Belmont Hill School ('37) and attended Harvard College ('41). He joined the U.S. Navy in 1940 and served on a minesweeper as a lieutenant during World War II. After the war he left the Navy, worked at the Vermont Marble Company and then as an investment advisor in Philadelphia. He and Marjorie lived in the Philadelphia area for almost 50 years and were members of the Church of the Advocate for nearly 30 years, where he served on the vestry.
He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and rower. Ned was the family historian and storyteller and will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and caregivers. Two sons, Edward and Christopher, predeceased him. He is survived by his wife Marjorie, his son Morton and daughter Elizabeth McMullen and her husband William McMullen, and daughter-in-law Anne, and seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 22nd at 2 pm at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 100 Pine Hill Road, Bedford, MA 01730.
