Edward J. Holt, 84, of Boynton Beach, Florida, a longtime resident of Bedford, died at his Florida home on January 12, 2015.
Mr. Holt was born in Newton on June 26, 1930, and he was the eldest son of the late Chester and Helen (Denty) Holt.
He was raised in Arlington and was a graduate of Arlington High School, Class of 1948.
He served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict for four years and was honorably discharged in 1953 as a Photographer, First Class.
He was a talented electronic technician, doing contract work throughout the greater Boston area for many years. Later, he worked for and retired from Merck in 1996. He enjoyed flying model planes, playing golf, target shooting, and The Great Gatsby.
While living in Bedford, he was a member of the Woburn Sportsmen's Association, American Legion Post, # 221, and a member of St. Michael's parish.
He was preceded in death by his loving first wife, Barbara A. (Rivers) Holt in 1984.
He is survived by the children from his first marriage: William and wife Jean of Clearwater, FL, James and wife Salimar of Jacksonville, FL, Patricia Luchette and husband Jeff of York, ME, David of Charleston, SC; brothers, Charles of Delaware, John of Rockport, MA, and David of Connecticut; sister, Barbara Palermo of Chelmsford, seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, as well as by his second wife, Phyllis of Boynton Beach, FL.
Visitation will be held at the Bedford Funeral Home, 167 The Great Rd., Bedford, on Friday, Feb. 6, from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Michael Church, 90 Concord Rd., Bedford, at 11:00 A.M.
Interment will be in Shawsheen Cemetery in Bedford.
