Obituary

Edith D'Alessandro died on July 11, 2012, in Bedford, Massachusetts, at Carleton-Willard Village, where she had resided since March 2011 and received loving care from a devoted staff.

Born in 1913 in Boston to the late Eugene and Italina Brizzolari, Edith moved to Cambridge at the age of eight and was educated in the Cambridge public schools. Following high school, she received a business degree from Burdett College. She was employed as a bookkeeper in various retail establishments until her retirement.

Edith had many interests, including travel, dancing, walking, needlepoint, going to Broadway shows, and rooting for her beloved Boston Red Sox. She also enjoyed literature and crossword puzzles and excelled at word games.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Sylvia Mallory, and son-in-law, Roy. She also leaves behind her sisters-in-law Lucy Rutzke of Watertown, Mass., and Mary Earnest of Cocoa, Florida, as well as many nieces and nephews. Edith was predeceased by her husband, Vincent D'Alessandro, and her son Paul and his wife Jane.

Visiting hours will be at the Bedford Funeral Home, 167 The Great Rd., Bedford, on Friday, July 13, from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. at which time her funeral service will be held.

Graveside services will be on Saturday, July 14, at 10 A.M. at North Cambridge Catholic Cemetery, 244 Rindge Ave, Cambridge.
