Eddy Lin (林愛迪), 83 years old, was born in China but grew up mostly in Taiwan. With no serious illness, he passed away unexpectedly at home in the early morning of June 28, 2019.

Eddy attended National Taiwan Normal University, Taipei, Taiwan, majoring in music for four years. It was during his college years that he met his dream girl by the name of Jade Chen (陳玉律), also a music major at the University, who later became his loving wife for 58 years and 355 days!

In addition to his training in music, Eddy was also very talented in other artistic areas such as crafts and design, and printing. Unbelievably, he was also a self-made skilled handyman, very good at small repairs, albeit without a license. Later in his life, this skill set became especially handy after he and Jade acquired the property currently known as the ACAS Activity Center in Woburn, MA.

With a great deal of courage and to enable their only child, Tony, then 12 and a promising violin player, to enroll at Julliard School of Music, Eddy and Jade decided to uproot the family from Taiwan and settled in Newton, in 1978, where they have lived ever since.

Eddy and Jade co-founded the American Chinese Art Society, a Massachusetts-registered non-profit cultural organization headquartered in Newton to promote Chinese culture in the greater Boston area in 1984. Eddy served as President while Jade has been Executive Director, Artistic Director and choreographer. In 1995, the couple acquired a dilapidated church building in Woburn, MA, and, after extensive renovation, turned it into the "ACAS Activity Center", the home base for the American Chinese Art Society the next year.

In addition to his deep involvement in ACAS as President until the very last day of his life, Eddy was a lifetime, highly devoted Christian belonging to the congregation of the Chinese Bible Church of Greater Boston in Lexington, MA. The bible church and ACAS were the two organizations that meant so much to Eddy that he essentially devoted his life to serving them to the best of his abilities.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jade, son Tony (and Yuko Tsujimoto), and two sisters, Sophie Lin (and Pastor Morley Lee) and Mimi Lin (and Ching Tsao), and many good friends in the greater Boston area.

Eddy Lin was a man of good characters, principle, commitment, artistic accomplishments, high ethical standard and great language skills. In brief, our beloved Eddy Lin was a highly ethical and religious gentleman endowed with multiple talents. Naturally, he will be missed dearly forever.

Visitation will be held at the Bedford Funeral Home, 167 Great Rd., Bedford, on Friday, July 12, from 5:00-8:00 PM.
