Dorothy A.
Dingee
Dec 27, 1923 — Apr 19, 2021
Dorothy (DiNapoli) Dingee, of Burlington and formerly of Medford, was 97 years young when she passed away on April 19, 2021.
She was born December 27, 1923, the ninth and last child of Lena and Edward DiNapoli of Boston.
Dottie always had a zest for life. She enlisted in the Women's Army Air Corp at 19 (because they would not take her after her graduation from high school at 18) on Dec 31, 1943. After her discharge in 1945 she worked for the Department of the Navy in Waltham, MA.
In 1965, she married Charles (Bud) Dingee, a Navy Veteran, and they moved to Orlando, FL where they lived until Bud's death in 1995. She was very active in her church and various charities.
Dottie and Bud did not have children of their own, however Dottie was a loving and devoted aunt to her 4 nephews and 6 nieces. This prompted her move in 2005 to Medford, MA to be closer to her family. It was a wise move for her. She was welcomed and included in all manner of family gatherings and was always ready to take part in family activities or to just get down on the floor and play with the younger children.
In Medford, she returned to painting, one of her favorite pastimes. She was an accomplished artist and produced more than a dozen lovely paintings that she shared with her family.
Dottie was an elegant woman with an eye for fashion and was a presence in Medford Square on her daily walks to the Senior Center and local shops or to St Joseph's church for Sunday Mass. She was an avid walker and walked every day in any weather.
She was generous, fun and loving. She will be missed.
A private burial will be held at a later date.
