Donald A. Grassi,. age 90, died on Oct. 17, 2015, at his Bedford home in the care of his loving family.

Born in Fairfield, Ct on Oct. 21, 1924, he was the son of the late Nicholas and Emma (Baldino) Grassi.

He was a World War II Army veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart. While a college student, he was inducted in 1943 and discharged in February of 1946 after serving 18 months overseas with Company B 114th Infantry Regiment 44th Division.

Mr. Grassi was a longtime Bedford resident and retired from Raytheon in 1988 after 33 years of service. He worked on the Apollo project and was a manager in the mechanical engineering group.

His lifelong hobby was designing and building radio controlled model airplanes. He was a member of several local model airplane clubs.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian (Havanich) Grassi, three children, Gail, Donald Jr. and Guy Grassi, six grandchildren, Adam, Britt, Nicholas, Faith, Hope and Kyle and a great grandson, Bryce Patrick Dunn. He was predeceased by his sister, Virginia Rondini.

Mr. Grassi's family and friends will celebrate his life at a memorial gathering at his home on Tuesday, Oct. 20, at 6:00 P.M.
