Donald G. Blake, 89, of Concord and a former Bedford resident died on February 15, 2021, in Concord.
He was born in Newton, Mass. on October 21, 1931, and was the son of the late Herman and Marion (Graves) Blake.
Mr. Blake was a graduate of Newton High School and following graduation he attended Northeastern University for two years.
In 1953, he married Janet Bova and in 1956 they settled in Bedford. He was active in the community and was a member of the Lions Club.
An avid cyclist his entire life, he was Treasurer of the Charles River Wheelers and a supporter of the Minuteman Commuter Bikeway.
He was a longtime communicant of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Bedford and was a volunteer for many church projects. He provided administrative support for the Monthly Epistle and at the annual Advent Fair, he served as cashier at the snack table. He also enjoyed having breakfast with the Men's Group.
He loved walking his dogs.
He was predeceased by his wife Janet in 2014.
He is survived by his children Douglass Blake and Gail of CA, Garrett Blake and Natalie of NC, Kimberley Silva and Thomas of NH and Andrew D. Blake of Alabama, grandchildren, Kyle Blake, Caitlin Stevens and Ben of CA, Kendra Dupuis and Chad of NH, Thomas Silva of MA, Erik and Allyson Blake of NC and great grandchildren, Benjamin Stevens and Penelope Paige Dupuis.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, funeral services and burial will be planned at a later time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 100 Pine Hill Rd., Bedford, MA 01730.
