Dennis P. Doughty, 44, of Chelmsford, died suddenly on December 14, 2013.

Dennis was born in Woburn on April 8, 1969, and he was the son of Rosemary (Horton) Doughty of Burlington and Dennis M. Doughty of Chelmsford.

He was raised in Bedford and was a graduate of Bedford High School, Class of 1987. He earned his degree in plastics engineering from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell in 1994.

Dennis began his career at Webster Plastics in Rochester, New York, where he was employed for several years and where he made many friends. A talented engineer, he also worked at Ticona and most recently for Victrex, where he was respected by industry colleagues.

In his leisure hours, he enjoyed playing guitar, listening to music, playing softball, politics, reading, driving his BMW and playing with his dog, Chou Chou.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Robin (Warcup) Doughty, two sisters, Cheryl Page of Medford and Patricia Callahan of Nashua, NH., nieces and nephews, Christopher, Jennifer, Lindsay, Joseph and Paige, his aunt Kristen Horton and uncles, James and David Horton and James, Stephen and John Doughty.

Visitation will be held at the Bedford Funeral Home, Thurs., December 19, from 4-8 P.M.

His funeral service will be at the First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church, 2 Westford St., Chelmsford, Friday, December 20, at 11 A.M.
