Obituary

Dannette Gouin Serio, 49, of Bedford, MA passed away peacefully at her home on November 19, 2016, with her loving husband by her side.

She was born in Brattleboro, VT on July 7, 1967, and was the daughter of Ronald Gouin and the late Barbara "Bobbie" (Howe) Gouin.

Dannette spent her formative years in West Halifax, VT, and was a 1985 graduate of Whitingham High School. She was a member of the National Honor Society, and lettered in field hockey going to the state finals one year.

Dannette moved to Boston to attend Northeastern University, where in 1990 she received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with a concentration in accounting and management. After living in Brookline, Quincy and Waltham, Dannette settled in Bedford, MA in 2000 with her future husband.

On May 20, 2006, on the island of St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Dannette married the love of her life and best friend Ronald F. Serio, whom she first encountered while attending Northeastern University.

Dannette enjoyed snorkeling and scuba diving in the tropics, traveling Europe, fine dining, wine and spirits with her husband, as well as spending time with close friends and family. She also had a fondness for investing and physical fitness, and was an accomplished martial artist receiving a black belt in Chung Moo Doe.

A Certified Public Accountant licensed in the state of Massachusetts, Dannette was also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, with over 25 years of private company and "Big 4" accounting experience. She was employed at BNY Mellon, in the Asset Servicing/Alternative Investment Services – Complex Accounting and Administration Group as a Vice President and Senior Unit Manager responsible for Partnership Accounting/Reporting, Investor Services and Treasury. Dannette was well-liked, a valued leader and mentor to many. She was also greatly respected by both co-workers and clients for her depth of industry knowledge.

In addition to her husband, Dannette is survived by her father, Ronald Gouin and his partner, Maggie Gretzinger of West Halifax, VT, brothers Michael and his wife Wendy Gouin of Brattleboro, VT and John Gouin of Burlington, VT, mother-in-law Lillian Serio of South Yarmouth, sister-in-law Debra Serio and her husband Michael Mallor of South Yarmouth, as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her father-in-law Richard A. Serio, and brother-in-law Richard C. Serio.

Dannette was much-loved by friends and family alike, with her beautiful smile, warm heart, outgoing personality, positive disposition, willingness to help others, classiness and style. She will be deeply missed by all.

Visitation will be held at the Bedford Funeral Home, 167 Great Road, Bedford, on Thursday, December 1, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A service for close friends and family will be on Friday, December 2, at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
