Daniel J. "Dan" deLellis, 76, of Wells, Maine died on March 17, 2013, surrounded by his loving family following a lengthy illness.
Mr. deLellis was born in Boston, Mass. on March 2, 1937, to the late Daniel R. and Edith G. (Keefe) deLellis. He was raised in Canton, Mass. and was a graduate of Canton High School. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from Boston University and also served in the Army Reserves.
He was employed as the book director by the Harvard Coop in Cambridge for 38 years and following his retirement went on to work an additional 11 years at The Paper Store's corporate headquarters in Acton.
His love of reading and passion for books was inspiring to many and led to lifelong friendships. He was a past President of the New England Booksellers and a member of the Board of Directors of the American Booksellers.
A longtime Bedford resident, he was a member of St. Michael's parish. In his spare time and in retirement, he enjoyed fly fishing, golfing and crossword puzzles.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Kathleen P. (O'Connor) sons, of Mark deLellis and his wife, Ellen of Stoneham, John deLellis of Maynard and David deLellis and his wife, Nicole of Burlington, his brother, Peter and his wife, Kanita of Torrance, CA, grandsons, John Patrick and Tyler Anthony. He is also survived by his niece, Jennifer Jacobsen and nephews, Thomas and Robert. He was predeceased by his cousin, David Cole. David's wife, Ellen is of Medfield
His funeral will be held from the Bedford Funeral Home, 167 The Great Rd., Bedford, Sat., March 23, at 8:00 A.M. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Michael Church, 90 Concord Rd., Bedford, at 9:00 A.M.
Funeral home visitation Friday, March 22, from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M.
Interment will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery in Concord.
