Connie Hanley, 83, of Bedford, died peacefully with her family by her side on December 21, 2014.

Mrs. Hanley was born in Boston, MA on November 7, 1931, and she was the daughter of the late Dr. John F. and Constance A. (McBride) Kearney.

She was a graduate of Vesper George School of Art in Boston and was an award winning painter.

She had lived in Bedford since 1957 and was a devoted parishioner at St. Michael's Church. She was a former Religious Education instructor and started the visitation ministry at the church over 20 years ago.

She was a devoted mother, loving grammie and great grammie, she enjoyed sewing, painting, gardening and fishing and was a die-hard Red Sox fan. In addition, she was a member of many societies including, Bedford Garden Club, Bedford and Chelmsford Arts and Crafts Societies, Signature Member of the Plymouth Center for the Arts, New England Watercolor Society, Rhode Island Watercolor Society and The Cape Cod Art Association.

After her youngest child entered school, she was employed by the Town of Bedford as a secretary in the public schools and later became the Director of Adult Education.

She was predeceased by her husband James A. Hanley in 2013 and her sisters Joan Kearney and Claire Groff and her brother Joseph Kearney. She is survived by her 11 children and their spouses, Tom Hanley and Kathy of Grand Rapids, MI, Connie Curran and John of Merrimac, MA, Kevin Hanley and Cindy of Lowell, Cathy Latina and Brian of Chelmsford, Mo Hanley and Pete Lisiecki of Milton, Carol Burnham and John of E. Sandwich, Jack Hanley and Katie of Abington, Jim Hanley and Sue Kazolias of South Boston, Brian Hanley and Cindi of Stoneham, Bob Hanley and Janine of Plymouth and Mary Kate Ellenton and Justin of Ipswich. Also survived by 24 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held at the Bedford Funeral Home, 167 Great Rd., Bedford, on Sun. Dec. 28 from 2-6 PM. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Michael's Church, 90 Concord Rd., Bedford, on Mon. Dec. 29 at 9 AM.
