Christ Theophile, Sr., passed away after a brief battle with cancer on Wednesday, June 11, 2025.
He was born in Somerville, Massachusetts and was the son of Greek immigrants, Demetrios and Christine Theophile.
He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 65 years, Margaret (McNicholas) Theophile.
He was a loving father of Anne-Marie Theophile (Aubrey, TX); James Theophile and his wife, Elizabeth (Bolton, MA); Kristen Manning and her husband, Peter (Bedford, MA); and Christ Theophile and his wife, Miranda Hooker (Arlington, MA).
As a Papou, he was the cherished grandfather of James and Tori Burns (McKinney, TX); Meaghan Burns and Dikpal "DD" Dhamala (Fethiye, Türkiye); PJ, Mary, and Nicholas Manning (Bedford, MA); Emilie and Sarah Theophile (Arlington, MA); and Christos and Diana Theophile (Bolton, MA).
He was the proud great-Papou of Maximus Burns of McKinney, Texas.
Christ was a long-time resident of Bedford and enjoyed summers at his home on Lake Winnipesaukee. After retirement, Christ avoided New England winters by spending time at Pelican Sound Golf and River Club in Estero, Florida.
Christ was an avid bridge player and shared many meals with friends and family alike over a deck of cards. He was a life-long fan of the Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins, holding season tickets for the Red Sox Spring Training in Florida.
In later years, he enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren at the lake as well as sharing culinary adventures in the kitchen with his family.
Christ was a long-time supporter of programs helping children in developing countries as well as the Wounded Warrior Project.
Christ is predeceased by his parents and both his sisters, Veneta Pappas and Helen Petras.
A wake will be held on Monday, June 16, from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm, at Bedford Funeral Home, 167 Great Rd, Bedford, Massachusetts 01730. The funeral service and interment are private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Christ's name may be made to the American Cancer Society of Massachusetts or mail to American Cancer Society, PO Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
