Obituary

Cecilia A. "CeCe" Wisentaner, 86 of Grand Rapids, Michigan passed away on December 2, 2024. CeCe was born June 9, 1938, in Boston, MA. She was the loving daughter of the late John "Al" Albert Wisentaner and Celia (O'Toole) Wisentaner.  CeCe was predeceased by her brothers John A. Wisentaner, Jr. of Bedford and Chatham Massachusetts and Kenneth R. Wisentaner of Dedham, Massachusetts and Naples, Florida

CeCe is survived by several nieces and nephews including John F. Wisentaner and his wife Mary Agnes of East Grand Rapids, MI and their daughter Elizabeth, Richard A. Wisentaner of London, England and his former wife Jacalyn and their children Lexi, Erik and Conor, and Doug Wisentaner. CeCe was also the cherished Godmother of Richard A. Wisentaner and Elizabeth M.S. Wisentaner.

CeCe was raised in Boston attending lower and middle schools in the Roslindale and Mission Hills neighborhoods of Boston. Her family moved to Bedford, Massachusetts and CeCe attended and graduated from Concord High School.

CeCe was a long-time resident of Beford and parishioner of St Michael Church where she was part of the fabric of the community and made many lifetime friendships.

Upon her high school graduation, CeCe began a long and fulfilling career as a social worker clerk for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts helping so many individuals and families during their most trying times.

Upon retirement from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, CeCe began to flourish in retirement and was an active member of the Bedford Council on Aging attending many meetings, activities and local trips. Cece was also an active volunteer supporting literacy for children at Lieutenant Eleazer Davis School where she tutored students in reading

After being diagnosed with dementia in 2016, CeCe moved to Porter Hills Village in Grand Rapids, Michigan and was diligently and lovingly cared for by the team members of Cedar Court.

CeCe made many wonderful friends among the Cedar Court team members during her 8 ½ years at Porter Hills. The Wisentaner family is grateful for the dedicated Cedar Court team members who provide such loving and good care for CeCe during the past several years.

A visitation was held on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, from 3:00PM to 4:00PM at the Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Services (4291 Cascade Road SE, Grand Rapids MI 49546).  A Rosary was held on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at 4:00PM at Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Services.  The Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at 11:00AM at Saint Stephen Catholic Church (750 Gladstone Drive SE, East Grand Rapids, MI 49506).

Interment was at New Calvary Cemetery, Boston.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the UMRC-Porter Hills Foundation's Team Member Support Services Fund for the West Side.
