Caryl Ann Russo, 83, of Bedford, died on July 26, 2021.
Caryl was born May 4, 1938, in East Boston, MA to the late William and Inez (Morrow) O'Brien.
In her earlier years, she enjoyed spending time at the beach, and attended various camp activities.
She was an esteemed scholar, and graduated from East Boston High School in 1955. She went on to attend Boston University.
In 1959, she married Augustine Russo, and moved to Bedford, MA to raise their growing family.
Caryl was a well-organized, selfless, and supportive mom. She was dedicated to her family, and instilled morals, values, and responsibility. She was detail-oriented, and always planned fun and successful family vacations, birthday parties and holiday events.
She was a volunteer for the National Kidney Foundation for many years, and raised thousands of dollars through her commitment and creativity (including hosting backyard plays, block parties, etc.)
Caryl was a Troop Leader in the Girl Scouts organization, and made effective contributions due to her hard work and diligence.
Caryl was also an active member and Treasurer of the First Baptist Church.
She loved to sing, and was a member of a local choral society. She even went on to record a professional CD.
She favored reading romance novels, listening to Barry Manilow, and watching The Lawrence Welk show. She exceled in game show challenges, competed to be a Jeopardy contestant, and was the anchor behind her children trying out for Family Feud in New York.
Caryl was well-known and well-respected in the community. She was the Town Accountant in Bedford for over 20 years.
We are very proud of her accomplishments, and she will be missed dearly.
She was the beloved wife of Augustine John Russo. Loving mother of Augustine J. Russo Jr. and his companion Kim Rogers of Westford, Elizabeth Ann Lussier and her husband Craig of Leominster, Christine Ann Russo of Bedford, Mark Augustine Russo and his wife Debbie of Westford, Patricia Ann Prescott of Chesterfield, VA, Caryn Ann Russo and her companion Beau Beaudoin of Atkinson NH, and the late John Augustine Russo and Beverly Ann Russo.
Cherished grandmother of Brenton, Tyler and Connor Lussier, Deborah Ann and Delaney Prescott, Alyssa Rose and Nicholas Augustine Russo. Sister of Beryl A. Finn and her companion Bob Guidi of Malden and the late Jane Soule.
Sister-in-law Joanne Spinale, nieces Susan A. Finn and wife Colleen, Roseanne Spinale, Stephanie Paturelli and her husband Mark. Nephews Thomas A. Finn, Joseph Spinale and his wife Christine, Joseph Spinale Jr. and his wife Gabrielle, Brian Flynn and his wife Lisa.
Visitation will be held at the Bedford Funeral Home, 167 Great Rd., Bedford, on Thursday, July 29, from 4:00-7:00 PM.
Funeral services will be private at Shawsheen Cemetery on Friday, July 30. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
