Caleb Warner, of Bedford and formerly of Five Fields in Lexington, MA, died on August 24 ^th , two weeks shy of his 95 ^th birthday. Raised in Cambridge and Essex, Massachusetts, Warner was an avid and lifelong lover of sailboats, tool working, and music. Educated as an acoustical and marine engineer at the University of Michigan, 21-year-old Warner served on a U.S. Navy repair ship off the south coast of England during the Normandy invasion. Warner later married and raised a family while working in New England's burgeoning post-war, high-tech industries. An avid problem solver and inventor, he developed and built contemporary harpsichords, then introduced an electronic harpsichord in the pre-synthesizer age. Warner's New England-based, one-man tool business drew on a cadre of highly skilled colleagues, "guild"-style. Through this work, Warner and his peers tackled a series of engineering and technological projects in the medical and applied acoustics field.

Warner was an avid community activist, serving for many years on Lexington's town meeting and on many town committees. Accomplished trumpet player, handbell organizer, master of shop tools, harpsichord builder, choral harmonizer, fixer of anything broken, Warner deeply loved to be useful to all those around him.

Warner was pre-deceased by his beloved wife Alice (Sizer), and survived by his four children Langdon Sizer Warner from Columbia, South Carolina; Anne Taubes Warner formerly of Belmont and now of Lincoln, MA; Alice Wendy Warner of Dillsburg, PA; and Caleb Nicholas Warner of Burlington, VT, as well as seven grandchildren, and many great grandchildren. Devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, cousin, teacher, and friend, he will be missed by all.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 on Saturday, September 16 ^th at the Hancock Church in Lexington center. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be sent to the University of Michigan Women's Sailing Team.
