Obituary

Beverley Nettie (Gerow) Macdonell, aged 89, died peacefully on May 20, 2015 at her home in Carlisle, surrounded by her family.

Beverley was born July 9, 1925, in Arlington, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Ralph Albert Gerow and Ethlyn Elizabeth Wilson.
Beverley attend the Concord Carlisle H.S, Concord, Ma, and graduated in 1943. She received her B.S. in Education from Fitchburg State teachers college in 1946 and her M.A. in Education from Boston University in 1950.

Beverley enjoyed a long and fulfilling career as an elementary school teacher. After her graduation from college she had the opportunity to work for the towns of Athol, Ma, Darien, Conn., and Concord, Ma. In 1955 Beverley went overseas to teach children in the Air Force and was stationed at military schools in Germany and France. She then returned home and was employed with the town of Concord where she taught for the next 30 years until her retirement in 1985.

Beverley took great pride in her family's heritage here in Carlisle. She often shared many stories of her great grandfather, Capt. Horace Waldo Wilson's portable sawmill and stock yard and how her grandmother Nettie Wilson, ran a canning kitchen and tearoom at the Wheat Tavern in the center of town. She donated photographs to the Carlisle Historical Society for their publication of "Images of America" Carlisle edition. Beverley had a lifelong love of learning and education and was eager to share with all who knew her.

Beverley is survived by her daughter Elizabeth Moseley and her husband Daniel Moseley of Carlisle, a son Christopher Macdonell of Carlisle, her sister Patricia Bergstrom of Merrimack, New Hampshire and a sister in law Ruth Gerow of Concord, Ma. She also leaves behind 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Beverley requested a memorial service to be held at the Wilson Memorial Chapel, Green Cemetery, Carlisle, May 30, 2015 at 10:00 AM for family and friends. The family wishes to thank All Care VNA and all those who cared for her.
