Barbara L. Magovern, 80, of Bedford, died on November 7, 2018, at the Lowell General Hospital, following a brief illness.

Mrs. Magovern was born in Somerville and was the daughter of the late Evan C. and Amy V. (Eisenhauer) Ernst.

She was raised in Lexington and was a graduate of Lexington High School.

In 1961, she married Robert J. Magovern in Lexington and in 1962 they moved to Bedford.

She worked for many years as a bookkeeper at Magovern Insurance Agency, located on the Great Rd. in Bedford. She also worked for several years at her father's company, E.C. Ernst Chemical Company, in Peabody and as a realtor with Coldwell, in Lexington.

Mrs. Magovern was a longtime and devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Bedford.

She enjoyed spending time at her second home at Merrymeeting Lake in New Hampshire.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband Robert J. Magovern, in 2014. She was the devoted mother of Scott and his wife Kathryn of North Chelmsford and Daniel and his wife Christina of Hudson, NH. Loving grandmother of Cassandra, Emily, Evan and Connor Magovern. She was predeceased by her sons, Dwight and David and brother, David Ernst.

Funeral service at The First Baptist Church, 155 Concord Rd., Bedford, on Monday, November 12, at 10:30 AM. Visitation at the Bedford Funeral Home, 167 Great Rd., Bedford, on Sunday, November 11, from 1:00-5:00 PM.
