Arthur N. "Steve" Brodie, 89, of Bedford, died on October 2, 2012, in Burlington following a lengthy illness.

Mr. Brodie was born and raised in Arlington and was the son of the late Henderson and Seviah (Meloon) Brodie.

He was a graduate of Boston English High School, Class of 1941, and was employed at MIT during World War II, working on various projects with heat seeking-bombs and aircraft deicing methods. After the war, he worked on the development of radar.

It was during the time that he met Irene R. Desrosiers and they were married on June 16, 1951 in Cambridge.

Mr. Brodie was employed by RCA in Burlington from 1954 to 1972. He later worked as a technical writer for Raytheon, retiring in 1994.

He had many hobbies, including photography, woodworking, and traveling. He went to Scotland on two trips and spent many hours working on his family genealogy, a hobby he shared with his daughter, Gail.

A Bedford resident since 1946, he was well known in Bedford as a senior tutor at the Davis School.

He was loved by his family and his neighbors who will miss him dearly.

He was predeceased by his wife, Irene in 1987.

Mr. Brodie is survived by his daughter, Gail E. Brodie of Shrewsbury, and son, Alan A. Brodie and his wife, Nadine of Holbrook, and grandchildren, Justin Brodie of Fitchburg, Joseph Brodie and Amy Brodie both of Palmer.

He was predeceased by his brother, Robert Hooker, and sisters, Wilma Wright, Winifred MacIntosh, and Lilla Brown.

Visitation will be held at the Bedford Funeral Home, 167 The Great Rd., Bedford, on Tuesday, October 9, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. His funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wed., Oct., 10, at 10:00 A.M.

Interment will be in Shawsheen Cemetery in Bedford.
