Ara Nugent Tyler, 98, formerly of Fair Haven, NJ and Lancaster, MA, passed away peacefully in Bedford, MA on November 13.

Ara was born in Norwalk, CT. She graduated from Adelphi University with a BS in Nursing and Harvard University with a Masters in Education. She began her career in nursing and later pursued her passion as a teacher. She taught in Middletown, NJ for over thirty years where she delighted in guiding elementary students as they learned to read. She was active as a volunteer and met her second husband, Francis Tyler as fellow board members at Monmouth Daycare Center. After moving to MA, she became active in the choir at the First Parish Church in Bedford. She believed in giving back to the community and worked to effect positive change during her lifetime.

She was the beloved wife of the late Francis Tyler. She leaves her brother, Wallace. Ara is also survived by her daughters, Pam and Betsy as well as five grandsons and four great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to First Parish Church, Bedford, MA or Monmouth Day Care Center, Red Bank, NJ.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
