Obituary

Anne M. Ciak, 93, of Bedford, Massachusetts, died peacefully on January 3, 2022, at her home in Hudson, MA.

She was born in Holyoke, MA on August 8, 1928, daughter of the late Anna (Bush) Burns and Thomas Burns.  She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Walter A. Ciak, who passed away in 2014.  She is also the sister of Joan Borstelmann of Centerport LI, NY. and of the late Thomas Burns of San Mateo, CA.

She graduated from Holyoke High School and was described as a vivacious and popular brunette. She attended Bay Path Institute in Springfield, MA as a student in the secretarial program.  She spent many years as a bookkeeper at Burlington Lumber Company and subsequently Bedford Optical Company. Her lifelong passion was art and painting and she was a longstanding honorary member of the Bedford Arts and Crafts Society.  She was an avid reader and skilled knitter.  She was an active member of St. Michaels Catholic Church in Bedford and she remained strong in her faith throughout her life.

She is survived by her three children, Linda Prager and her husband Lee of Berlin, MA, Carl Ciak, M.D. and his wife Barbara Ciak, M.D. of Meredith, NH, and Diane Shannon of Nashua, NH.  She is also survived by her much loved seven grandchildren, Cynthia Parenteau, Kevin Prager, Jeffrey Prager, Jessica Zopf, Michael Ciak, Mark Shannon, and Paul Shannon, and 16 great grandchildren.

Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael Church, 90 Concord Rd., Bedford, on Saturday, May 7, at 9:00 A.M. Interment will follow at the Shawsheen Cemetery in Bedford.
