Alfred J. Otis, Jr., 73, of Bedford, died unexpectedly at his residence on September 6, 2021.

Born in Lynn and known to many simply as "Otis", he was the son of the late Alfred J. and Josephine (Zarba) Otis.  He was raised and educated in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School, Class of 1967.

An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam Era.

He was employed by the United States Postal Service in Salem, MA as a mail carrier and clerk until the time of his retirement.

Faith was very important to Al and most recently he attended Mass at the VA Chapel in Bedford.

Al will be remembered as a loving father and a caring friend.  His outgoing personality endeared him to many and "Otis" was always quick to smile or impart a joke.

He is survived by his children, William J. Otis and Victoria Otis, his former wife, Stephanie (Kallas) Otis and his niece, Susan Otis.  He was predeceased by his sister, Judy Otis.

Due to Covid restrictions, a private funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Chapel at the E.N. Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital.
