Agnes M. Kelnhofer, 82, of Bedford died April 8, 2022, following a brief illness.
She was born in Prague, Czech Republic and was the daughter of the late Josef and Kveta (Jahl) Talacko.
In 1947, she began the journey with her parents and brother to escape her war-torn country, leaving most of their belongings behind, in hopes of returning to their home. In January of 1948, the family arrived in Baltimore where they stayed for a short while before moving to a few different areas of the country, where her father would find work as a college professor.
Eventually, the family settled in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she attended high school and graduated as the class salutatorian.
She went on to graduate from Marquette University with a bachelor's degree in Mathematics, in December of 1961. While at Marquette, she met Joseph T. Kelnhofer and they were married in November of 1961.
As a military family, the Kelnhofer's moved frequently before settling in Bedford in 1979.
Mrs. Kelnhofer was an active member of St. Michael Parish and former president of the Bedford Garden Club.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph T. Kelnhofer and her brother Jon Talacko.
She is survived by her four children and their spouses, Joseph R. Kelnhofer of Bedford, Robert J. Kelnhofer and his wife Elinor of Aurora, IN, Cecilia M. Feeley and her husband Michael of Wayne, NJ and Philip J. Kelnhofer and his wife Michelle Briand of Malden, MA and 5 grandchildren, Laurel Millevolte and her husband Gus, Jeremy and Elizabeth Kelnhofer and Alexander and Rebecca Feeley.
Funeral from the Bedford Funeral Home, 167 Great Rd. Bedford, on Wednesday, April 13, at 8:00 AM followed by a funeral Mass in St. Michael Church, 90 Concord Rd., Bedford, at 9:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, 3 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
